Eye Hygiene

Habit of Eyelids cleaning everyday like brushing your teeth, will make your eyes healthy, sparkling and confident.

Eyelid hygiene

Is very important for all of us. Cleaning the eyes every day like brushing teeth is essential to avoid infections and allergies. Just splashing your eyes with plain water is not enough – experts suggest that you should use eyelid wipes every day to avoid conditions like Blepharitis, Meibomitis, and many other ocular surface disorders.

So, what are Blepharitis and Meibomitis?

Are you experiencing itching, red eyes, swollen eyelids, and a feeling that something is in your eyes? Another symptom is the swelling/redness of the eyelid margin. You may have pain in your eyes, and your vision may become blurry too. All these symptoms may indicate Blepharitis or Meibomitis.

Blepharitis occurs when the roots of your eyelashes become inflamed. This happens because of the accumulation of dead/dry skin cells on the eyelashes and their base. Demodex Mites (tiny parasites) and bacteria on the eyelid aggravate the condition. Blepharitis can be chronic or temporary.

Your eyes have a row of oil glands on both the upper and the lower eyelids. Meibomitis occurs when the oil glands become inflamed. The inflammation occurs due to the oil glands being clogged with solidified oil. In most cases, as with Blepharitis, the bacteria which reside in the glands make the inflammation worse.

How to tackle Blepharitis and Meibomitis?

You ought to visit your doctor who will advise you to do the following things, in order to control or treat the two conditions:

Apply warm compress

Dip a clean face towel in hot water. Apply this warm compress to the eyelids to warm them. This will help in liquefying the solidified oil in the oil glands and ejecting the clogged oil out of the eyes.

Maintain eyelid hygiene

The best way to control Blepharitis and Meibomitis is to use everyday Tea Tree Oil based wipes to clean eyelids, eyelashes, the surrounding areas of eyes, and face. Tea Tree Oil has been known worldwide for over 80 years as effective anti-bacterial, anti-Demodex, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory. So, these wipes will keep disease-causing bacteria away and eyes will be cleaner and healthier. They will effectively remove debris, any exudate materials around eyelids, eyelashes, and around eye skin.

Oculeaf Eyelid Wipes are formulated with 7% Tea Tree Oil along with some other natural moisturizers, lubricating agent, and skin conditioners. They not only improve the hygiene of eyes but also help in strengthening the health of the skin around eyes and improve overall comfort.

You are not required to rinse your eyes with water after using Ocular Eyelid Wipes, they provide NO-RINSE solutions for your eye care.

Tip: Before using Oculeaf Eyelid Wipes, wash your hands. Take out one pre-moistened wipe. Close your eye and wipe the upper eyelid from the eye corner near the nose to the other corner. Next, wipe the lower eyelid in a similar manner. Then, wipe the eyebrow. Repeat the same for the other eye. Use the wipe very gently while cleaning the eye contour area as the skin around eyes is very soft. DO NOT RINSE your eyes after using the eyelid wipe.

Oculeaf Wipes are available in a pack of 24 and 12 pre-moistened wipes. One can easily carry the wipes with him/her and use them one to two times every day.

Artificial Tears

Tear evaporation leads to dry eyes and eye fatigue. Using doctor prescribed artificial tears can also alleviate your discomfort. You can use artificial tears a number of times in a day. Your doctor might ask you to use a different kind of eye lubricating drops.

Antibiotic

In extreme cases, antibiotics are prescribed by doctors. The antibiotics will help reduce the inflammation/infection and bring it under control.

Prevention is better than cure. To avoid conditions like Blepharitis and Meibomitis, you should make cleaning your eyes with harmless eyelid wipes, such as Oculeaf Eyelid Wipes, a habit. This will stop the oil glands from being clogged and clean the dead or dry skin cells off the eyelids. Your eyes will feel healthier and happier!
