Know the mites those causing discomforts in your eyes

Demodex is an ectoparasite. Among the many Demodex species, only D. folliculorum and D. brevis are found on the human body, including the face, cheeks, forehead, nose, and eyelids. On eyelids, D. folliculorum lives in the eyelash follicles and D. Brevis lives deep in the meibomian glands and the sebaceous glands of the lashes.

Many reports confirm that Demodex is an etiologic factor in chronic blepharitis, conjunctival inflammation, and meibomian gland dysfunction. Over 80% of patients suffering from blepharitis are reported having Demodex. Demodex is significantly related to age, ocular discomforts, tear film instability, and poor eyelid hygiene. When it has grown large in numbers, Demodex starts creating many symptoms like itching, feeling of rubbing, pain, stickiness, excessive tearing in eyes, often resulting in pain & inflammation in eyelids. It needs proper management by improving eyelid hygiene.

2% Tea Tree Oil is found to be effective in killing these mites/germs in eyelids and thereby improving overall eyelid & eye hygiene better than other conventional products. Oculeaf Soft Eyelid Cleanser contains 2% Tea Tree Oil in addition to Vitamin E and Aloe B.
